In her first officer’s chair, a hollow ache in the pit of her stomach.

“I never lied to you.” Even now the painful truth.

Their eyes held. A palatable sexual charge still permeated the air around them.

This was never real, her mind acknowledged; her aching heart didn’t care.
A game from the on set; a dangerous, passionate, exciting game,
still foreknowledge couldn’t deaden the reality of his ultimate betrayal.

“For what it’s worth, you made a tempting offer.” His words hung heavy as her heart.

The woman had succumbed to temptation; the captain was left alone in fragile victory.
